The vocational boarding school

The ZDS vocational boarding school offers young people comfortable and supportive accommodation during their training blocks. Our two modern boarding school buildings, “Berufsinternat 1” and “Berufsinternat 2”, are located directly next to each other on De-Leuw-Straße and offer a total of 142 places.

The Berufsinternat 1, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the school and the canteen, offers 42 modern rooms, including both single and double rooms with private bathrooms. In addition to facilities for daily needs (kitchen, washroom, water dispenser), the house also offers TV rooms and a creative area. You can also play table football, darts and table tennis.

Our Berufsinternat 2 has 41 bright and friendly rooms on three floors, including both single and double rooms with private bathrooms. All rooms are functionally furnished to offer trainees a pleasant living environment. Residents can enjoy numerous leisure activities here, including billiards, table tennis, a cinema, a fitness room and a well-equipped rehearsal room for musical activities.

Our dedicated team of 10 social pedagogues provides comprehensive support for teenagers and young adults around the clock. In addition to providing support in technical learning matters, such as forming learning groups, mentoring programs and determining learning styles, we place great importance on social-emotional development. Our wide-ranging professional experience and further training are of great benefit to us here.

We are always available to help with problems of any kind and are happy to provide advice and support for self-help. We are well networked both in Solingen – for acute cases – and nationwide, so that we can refer people to support systems if necessary.

For very specific problems, we offer open consultation hours twice a week, which can always be attended spontaneously. Here, the individual can be given more space and a protected environment can be maintained.

If necessary, we also maintain contact outside of the school blocks and accompany processes that have been started together.

Leisure activities play a central role in our boarding school life. We offer a wide range of activities, including creative workshops, excursions into the surrounding area and experiential education activities such as climbing and night hikes. Our student kitchens, fitness rooms and in-house cinema are also available to students.

At the ZDS vocational boarding school, we not only promote technical training, but also the development of soft skills. Respectful interaction and clear rules help the young people to take responsibility and prepare themselves optimally for their professional future.
