On January 15, 2025, the Technician Day took place at the ZDS – a special day dedicated to the presentation of the 6-week project work of the prospective food technology technicians. Around 41 guests, including representatives from the food and beverage industry, alumni and current students and trainees, came together to experience creative solutions and innovative approaches. The topics of the project work reflected the diversity and relevance of the food industry:

  • Optimizing the adhesion of toppings on frozen pizzas (Gustavo Gusto)
  • Filling optimization of cooked sausage (Fleischwaren Blumberg)
  • Method development for leak testing of clip closures (Harry Brot)
  • Bottle Burst: System validation by analyzing empties and checking the bottle surge (Krombacher)
  • Development of a Kanban system for the provision of packaging materials (Wback)
  • Development of a fresh yeast dough for end customers (point of food)

Special program points were the poster presentations in the foyer, the tour of the ZDS and the panel discussion with three former technicians, who gave exciting insights into their professional experiences. In the afternoon, the audience voted for the most convincing project before the event concluded with a farewell from the school management. The Technician Day provided an excellent opportunity for exchange between students, industry and our alumni. We would like to thank all participants for this successful day and look forward to the next exciting projects in the coming year!
